Rose Quarter Improvement (planning project)
ODOT is continuing to study and design improvements to I-5 between Interstate 84 and Interstate 405 in Portland.
Interstate Bridge Trunnion Replacement
In September 2020, the northbound lanes of the Interstate Bridge closed for 7 days as crews replaced a cracked trunnion and other parts that help lift and lower the bridge. During the closure, all traffic crossing the bridge shared the three southbound travel lanes and sidewalk.
Thank you to our partners, the construction crew, and everyone who changed their travel habits during the closure of the northbound span of the Interstate Bridge.
This work was crucial for the bridge's lift system, which allow the tallest marine vessels to pass below on the Columbia River. The Interstate Bridge is located on I-5 where it connects Oregon and Washington across the Columbia River.
