ODOT establishes
designated speed limits when a statutory speed limit may not be reasonable or applicable.
ORS 810.180 allows ODOT primary authority to designate speeds on all public roadways, when it is different than the statutory speed.
We document speed limits in a speed zone order when the speed limit for a roadway is a designated speed limit, rather than a statutory limit.

Current designated speed zone orders, along with the most recent engineering investigation for the order, are available through our online database. Reminder, we do not store statutory speed zone limit records in our database.

Database Tips and Tricks
Can't find a speed order for the road in question?
First, double check your spelling. The database requires correct spelling in order to produce results.
If your spelling is correct, there are two primary reasons why a street search comes up empty.
- The road may not have a designated speed zone order.
- The road may operate under a statutory speed limit, such as a 25 mph residential speed zone. (Statutory speed limits don't require speed orders.)
