Construction Impacts

icon showing construction on a bridgeWhen we start working on the bridge, you can expect:

  • Crews mostly working at night.
  • Lane and shoulder closures for the duration of construction.
  • Flaggers helping direct traffic when we need to set up cones and barrels.
  • Construction noise and delays.
  • An alternate route for local traffic using Pioneer Parkway and OR 126.
  • A freight detour using OR 126.
  • A three-week-long full bridge closure with detours.

Plan ahead for a full three-week bridge closure and detours

Some of our work will require us to fully close the westbound bridge. We expect the closure to start as early as October 2025 and be in place for three weeks.

Plan ahead for a three week detour!

When the detour is in place, both directions of traffic will use the South A Street bridge:

  • Westbound traffic will take a left turn off of Main Street onto S Mill Street to get onto the South A Street Bridge.
  • Eastbound traffic will stay to the right, going through both roundabouts before crossing the river.

How will traffic go through the roundabouts?

  • After westbound traffic crosses the river, the lane will shift back to the normal configuration.
  • Signs and lane closures in the roundabout will help direct traffic.

When the detour is in place, pedestrians and bicyclists will detour onto the South A Street Bridge.
