Snowmobile Safety Instructor Certificate

 

A Snowmobile Safety Instructor Certificate authorizes you to teach children and adults about snowmobile safety.  This certificate is free and doesn’t expire.

How to Qualify/Apply

To qualify and apply,  you must: 

  • Have a high school diploma or better; 
  • Have experience operating snowmobiles; 
  • Have a recommendation from a local snowmobile club or a member of the Oregon State Snowmobile Association; 
  • Complete the application (Form # 6616); and 
  • Take a 50-question exam at a DMV office, based on ORS 821.050-320, OAR 735-162 and the "Snowmobile Safety and You" manual, and score at least 90% to pass.

Only certified snowmobile safety instructors can get “Snowmobile Safety and You” manuals from DMV. Certified instructors provide them to their students.

Submit your completed application and supporting materials by mail or in person at DMV Headquarters, Business Regulation section.
