Reducing social isolation
Help to Connect program
In July 2024, in partnership with the Aging and Disability Resource Connection of Oregon (ADRC) and Access Technologies, Inc., the Help to Connect program was launched to provide free computers, tablets or robotic pets to eligible people in Oregon. The goal of the program is to increase social connection, provide companionship, and improve individual health and wellness outcomes. One participant stated:
This wonderful, life-changing gift has jump-started my life and has come to mean everything to me because it makes a positive difference in so many positive ways every single day!
While the computers, tablets and robotic pets are no longer available, a limited number of people can still get a free iPad. If you or someone you know is 55 or older or 18 and older, living with a disability, and could benefit from a free iPad to reduce loneliness, the ADRC can help. Call 855-ORE-ADRC (673-2372) and tell us you’re calling about “Help to connect.”
