"I have a learning disability, which I have openly shared. For me, it's a significant example of how ODHS values parity and equity—not only is someone with this diagnosis in a leadership role, but the strengths associated with it are actively recognized and celebrated. I receive tailored support in the areas where I've faced challenges, ensuring I can successfully meet the demands of my role. For the first time in my decades-long career in human services, I feel genuinely supported and comfortable being open about my needs. This is a direct reflection of the inclusive and compassionate community within this agency."

-Tim Cork, District Manager of District 1

"As a Human Service Specialist (HSS4) Lead Worker, I have the pleasure of supporting the dedicated staff who work directly with our community members. The ones doing eligibility and engaging with the public are the true voices of this agency and I get to just make sure they have everything they need to succeed. Whether that's by facilitating trainings, reviewing policy with staff, authorizing special circumstances, advocating for staff with leadership, or providing support in other ways, I’m committed to their success. The most meaningful part of my job is when I see a client or staff member overcome barriers. The stability in employment, the schedule, work life balance, strong union representation and a highly valued benefits package are highlights but the biggest and most impactful way that ODHS supports me is they allow me to advocate for myself and they trust that I will be doing so to grow as a valued employee.”

-Steve Cerreta, HSS4 Lead Worker
