The Oregon Department of Agriculture's Commercial Feed Program works to ensure the safety and quality of animal feed across the state. Every formula of commercial animal feed made, distributed, delivered, offered for sale, or sold in Oregon must be registered with the Department, with current labels on file. Feed labels are reviewed for compliance with state requirements to ensure uniformity and clarity between brands and products, allowing customers to better understand and compare products.
Oregon does not include dog or cat food in its definition of commercial feed. Dog and cat food must follow FDA requirements, and products manufactured in Oregon must follow applicable
Food Safety licensing requirements.
Oregon also requires the registration of Animal Remedies, also called Veterinary Products. They cover products for all animal, including dogs and cats. Please see our
Animal Remedy page for more information. Products are not required to be double registered as an Animal Remedy if they are licensed under the Food Safety Program or a Commercial Feed license.
