Public Records

Public record requests must be made in writing. Please include your name, phone number, email address, and mailing address. For your convenience, a fillable request form is available.

Requests should be as specific as possible and include:

  • Type of record(s) requested
  • Subject matter
  • Approximate date(s)
  • Names of businesses and/or people involved

Certain types of public records are exempt by law from being released and usually involve confidential information. These exemptions are listed under ORS 192.345.

Requests will be sent to the Records Officer, reviewed and sent to the appropriate program area. Requests will be acknowledged within 5 days of receipt and an invoice will be prepared and sent to the requester.

ODA may charge fees for records if the time it takes staff to provide the records takes more than 30 minutes. If fees are being charged, an invoice will be provided. Fees must be paid prior to release of records.

Public record requests will be completed within 15 days or a staff member will contact the requester to let them know the approximate date of completion.
