FAQs

Question

How do I know a CE program is approved for renewal credit?

Answer

Read the administrative rules on continuing education. There are guidelines for subject matter and/or activities.  Otherwise, the OBCE does not pre-approve programs.

Question

Once I've completed my continuing education hours, do I need to send the certificates to the Board?

Answer

Generally CAs and DCs do not need to send their CE proofs of completion to the Board, but there are exceptions (shown below). CAs and DCs are required to maintain their own (CE) education records. The recommendation is to keep your CE records for two to three year; make sure you note for which year you completed the hours for renewal credit.

Exceptions

1) Any time you receive a notice that you are being audited, you must respond by submitting the requested documentation.

2) Any Board-mandated CE is required to be submitted; this may include:

  • specific subjects in any one year,
  • first or second year DC renewal hours, or
  • first year CA hours (for example, vitals)

Whenever you are required to submit your proofs of completion, read the instructions you receive carefully. They will indicate your response deadline, and how documents should be submitted.
