The OHA established an advisory council made up of people of color, public health workers, and mobile-health experts to guide OHA in designing a mobile health pilot program. 

In response to feedback from the Mobile Health Advisory Committee and recommendations from the OACO's Health Equity Advisory Leaders (HEAL), OHA allocated funds to two organizations to operate mobile health units in Oregon. These units provide care in individuals' preferred languages and are culturally responsive, intended to align with cultural values and beliefs. 

OHA will conduct a comprehensive study of these mobile health units to develop a plan for funding additional units in the future. This initiative aims to expand access to culturally-responsive care for a broader range of BIPOC and priority populations across Oregon. 

The OACO will partner with community-based organizations to form a group of people who are Black, Indigenous, Latino, Asian and Pacific Islander, and other people of color (BIPOC) to meet and talk about culturally-specific health needs in their communities. This group convened, and many of the recommendations were gathered in community with the Health Equity Advisory Leaders (HEAL) and the Indigenous Health Equity Action Council (IHEAC). 

The HEAL provided ideas for how the OHA’s mobile health units should provide care that is most helpful to historically underrepresented communities. 

HEAL will also come up with other ideas for improving health and social outcomes for their communities.  

The OACO staff will share the HEAL’s ideas with OHA and Oregon lawmakers so new programs can be created that address racism as a public health crisis and improve the lives of people of color.
