Enterprise Fleet GHG Emissions 2018-2022
Transportation in the largest source of GHG gas emissions in Oregon. Oregon’s state vehicles resulted in just under 150 million metric tons of GHG emissions in 2022.
This metric shows GHG emissions from agency owned fleet vehicles, agency rental use of the DAS light duty fleet, and medium and heavy-duty vehicles used for various agency activities. It also includes GHGs from miscellaneous fuel use, such as for operating landscaping equipment.
Agency Fleet GHG Emissions
Fleet GHG emissions are influenced by the fuel used, the efficiency of the vehicle and the number of miles traveled. The DAS Statewide Fleet Management Policy directs agencies to utilize the most fuel-efficient vehicle appropriate for planned travel. By purchasing and using more LEVs, PHEVs and ZEVs – along with eliminating unnecessary travel – agencies can reduce their fleet-related GHG emissions.
When fully converted to ZEVs, the DAS light duty vehicle fleet could realize GHG carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) impact reductions of nearly 80% compared to a fleet using internal combustion engines (ICEs ). This reduction would complement statewide GHG reduction efforts and help agencies lead by example in their operations.
GHG emissions are only shown for agencies reporting significant fuel use over 7,000 gallons annually. Fuel use from other agencies were nominal and are not included.
