Agency renewable energy use, mainly solar photovoltaics (PV), plays a small but increasing role in generating clean electricity and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
Currently 7 agencies report having operating solar arrays. Military leads the way, with nearly 1.4 megawatts of installed capacity.
When constructing new buildings or renovating existing ones, for projects over $5 million in value agencies must dedicate at least 1.5% of project value to green energy technology – typically onsite solar arrays.
