Real Estate Land Services

Real Estate Land staff supports state agencies in real property actions to ensure the highest and best use of state-owned real property assets. We charge an assessment for these services. Examples include:  

  • Partnering with agency land managers to negotiate the purchase, sale, exchange, transfer, donation and closing of real property. 
  • Reviewing to determine type of transaction:
    • Surplus
    • Trade
    • Exchange requiring 30-day notice
    • Futile act declaration
  • Assisting agencies with non-leasing real estate transactions and due diligence relating to cell towers, easements, environmental site assessments, surveys, appraisals and deeds.
  • Implementing legislative orders relating to real estate that do not produce revenue.
  • Supporting the Governor's executive orders relating to real estate.
  • Distributing Clearinghouse notices. 
  • Managing long-term real estate projects with unclear outcomes.
  • Supporting the Public Lands Advisory Committee.
  • Explaining land use and zoning, contracting for traffic and transit studies and facilities planning services.
  • Planning facility policy initiatives (e.g., portfolio management, business cases, and space standards).
  • Maintaining an inventory of state-owned real property in partnership with the Department of State Lands.

Additional Services for a Fee:

  • Executing any pre-purchase agreement or memorandum of understanding with an interested party.
