Minimum standards help make sure that apprenticeship programs in the same trade or occupation adhere to the same quality and mastery of skills. These guidelines serve as the industry standard.
Minimum guideline standards identify the industry benchmarks required for entry into and completion of a state registered apprenticeship program. These benchmarks can include items such as work processes, related training curriculum, and the ratio for the supervision of apprentices.
Minimum guideline standards are developed by a committee designated by the Oregon Apprenticeship and Training Council (OSATC) which is comprised of members of registered apprenticeship programs within the same occupation. Once approved, all programs within the occupation must adopt these benchmarks in their standards. Registered apprenticeship programs may exceed the minimums listed within the standard but may not require less than what has been approved.
