Financial education providers

Clackamas County Bank provides free financial education workshops for people of all ages through community organizations and local libraries. It uses the FDIC Money Smart program and other platforms. Clackamas County Bank also offers credit builder loans and second-chance checking accounts. Services are provided in English. Call 503-668-2560 for more information.

Columbia Bank has product-specific informal financial coaching. The bank also helps clients get connected to experts and community resources. Columbia Bank partners with community organizations, such as Financial Beginnings, and maintains FDIC and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) financial literacy libraries for employees to use as needed. DevNW is a nonprofit that offers one-on-one financial counseling and personal finance classes on everything from the foundations to investing and tackling student debt. DevNW offers savings tools and systems. Start a DevNW membership to begin meeting with a financial counselor or attending the Financial Foundations classes. DevNW offers access to matched savings through individual development accounts, down payment assistance, and credit builder loans.  Services are provided in English and Spanish. First Interstate Bank provides senior financial education, financial education for students, and fraud prevention seminars. All these services are free. Services are provided in English and Spanish on request. Call 855-342-3400 (toll-free) to be connected to the closest branch in your area.​

OnPoint Community Credit Union offers live classes and on-demand, self-paced financial education options. Details can be found at onpointcu.com/financial-education. Resources are available to members and the community for free. OnPoint offers many products to support its members reaching their goals. A few examples include first-time home buying loans, youth savings account with a gifted deposit from the credit union, retirement and life stage planning, and small business account and loan options. Open Door HousingWorks provides financial coaching to low-income families that promotes self-sufficiency by teaching people how to proactively improve their financial health. Open Door HousingWorks offers self-paced financial education and one-on-one financial counseling that teaches how to budget, pay off debt, and start saving toward long-term goals, such as buying a home. Other services include home buying education and counseling, matched savings, and down payment assistance. Services are provided in English, Spanish, and Polish. Rivermark Community Credit Union has a staff of financial coaches certified by the Credit Union National Association Financial Counseling Certification Program. Its financial coaches help members on all things pertaining to financial wellness. Common topics include identifying financial goals, creating a budget, developing and funding savings programs, monitoring and repairing credit, and paying off debts. Financial education is provided by Balance, rivermarkcu.org/financial-wellness. Services are free.

Rivermark CCU also has a first-time homebuyer program. Services are provided in English, American Sign Language, Chuukese, French, German, Hindi, Kannadu Telugu, and Spanish. Call 503-626-6600 for more information.


Strengthening Rural Families offers free financial coaching to help clarify your goals, make an action plan, and find financial peace and stability. Meet with one of its trained coaches for an hour at a time as many times as you want. There are no income or location requirements. Services are provided in English and Spanish. The Division of Financial Regulation's outreach and education team helps financial education providers, teachers, community-based organizations, business associations, local governments, tribal authorities, and event organizers get the message out. The team works through community partners to provide speakers and educational resources on topics such as:

Financial Beginnings provides free financial education programs for Oregonians of all ages. It partners with schools and other nonprofits to deliver financial education to students and participants. Neighborhood Partnerships maintains an online library of financial education resources. Materials on the Financial Education Standards Resource Library come from a variety of different sources, including community organizations in Oregon, and links to third-party financial education resources. This site is a resource for high-quality, vetted, easy-to-access financial education materials, which ensure effective and engaging financial education for individual development account savers and others.​​
