Overview
The City of Cottage Grove is located in the western portion of the State of Oregon, in the south central portion of Lane County. Cottage Grove State Airport is sited on approximately 69 acres adjacent to the eastern city limits. This airport is owned and operated by the ODA and is frequently used by air ambulance operators. Cottage Grove is known for its historic covered bridges and is a popular vacation spot. Area attractions include covered bridges, abandoned mines, and the Cottage Grove Historical Museum. Cottage Grove hosts many annual events such as Bohemia Mining Days, a celebration of Cottage Grove's gold mining frontier history. The largest employers are South Lane School District, the City of Cottage Grove, PeaceHealth Cottage Grove Community Medical Center, Weyerhaeuser Company, Starfire Lumber, Pacific Yurts, Wal-Mart, Safeway and Kimwood Corporation.
The Airport has one runway oriented in a northwest-southeast direction. This runway, Runway 15/33, measures 3,188 feet in length by 60 feet width. Runway 15/33 is a visual approach runway equipped with MIRL and PAPIs. The Airport accommodates 16,685 annual general aviation operations and is home to 26 based aircraft. It is estimated that 58 percent of the Airport's annual operations are conducted by itinerant aircraft.
