Carty Generating Station

The Carty Generating Station is an approved 500 megawatt (MW) energy generating facility  consisting of an operational 450 MW combined-cycle natural gas-fueled electric generating power plant, and a not-yet-constructed 50 MW solar PV electric power generating unit (Carty Solar Farm). The facility is located within an overall site boundary of approximately 4,997 acres.

Under Review/Operating​

On February 16, 2024 the Department received Preliminary Request for Amendment 4. In the Preliminary Request for Amendment 4 (pRFA4), the certificate holder requests Council approval to amend the site boundary, increase solar generating capacity from 50 MW on 315 acres (.49 sq. miles) to 185 MW on 849.7 acres (1.33 sq. miles), add related and supporting facilities including battery storage, and amend site certificate conditions.

A Public Notice of Receipt of the Preliminary Request for Amendment 4 has been issued and is available for public review below in the Project Amendment Timeline, along with the pRFA4.

Following review and completeness determination of the pRFA4, the Department will issue a Draft Proposed Order and Public Notice requesting public comment on the amendment request and Draft Proposed Order. These materials will be made available on this project page, under the Project Amendment Timeline below.​
