House Bill 2527 directs the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST or Department) to license entities that engage in the business of providing private security services. The legislature granted rulemaking authority to the Department. The Department worked with workgroup members, stakeholders, our policy committee, and the board to implement these statutory requirements by establishing standards and procedures that carry out the intent of legislation for the licensing of private security entities which will be effective on January 1, 2024.
House Bill 2527 and the supporting legislative materials from the 2021 regular session are available on the Oregon State Legislature's website at: HB2527 2021 Regular Session - Oregon Legislative Information System (oregonlegislature.gov).
