Message from Executive Director Dacia Johnson
Thank you for making a contribution to support the Oregon Commission for the Blind. Our mission is to Empower Oregonians who are blind to fully engage in life.
Whether it is preparing our future workforces of youth as they transition into adulthood, retraining adults to go back to work to support themselves and their families, or providing training and support for our seniors to live independently, we work with hundreds of Oregonians each year to help them reach their employment and independent living goals.
Some of the ways we utilize contributions include:
• Providing low vision devices for senior citizens who cannot afford them
• Supporting specialized transition staff dedicated to serving in-school youth
• Enhancing summer programs for youth to include recreational experiences
Many of our contributions come from Oregonians who want to give back as a result of the services they or a loved one have received. Our services make such a difference to people's lives, and donations are a way of “paying it forward," helping to make services available to others.
