Victim Services

Guilty Except Insanity Cases

Under Oregon law, victims of a person found guilty except for insanity (GEI) or responsible except for insanity (REI) have rights. The PSRB strongly encourages victims to use the specialized services offered by the Oregon Department of Justice Appellate Advocacy Program, where a trained advocate can help with your case. The system can be confusing, and we want to make sure you understand everything clearly. While PSRB staff can answer basic questions, the advocate offers extra help, including support with travel, phone or written appearances, and emotional counseling. This service is designed to guide you through the process and make sure you have the support you need. To give enough time for planning, please reach out to the advocate as early as possible before the hearing.
