Oregon Fire Code

Why the Oregon Fire Code Matters

The Oregon Fire Code plays a crucial role in protecting the lives and property of Oregonians. Fire safety is a shared responsibility, and the code serves as a comprehensive guide for building owners, architects, contractors, and emergency responders, ensuring that fire prevention and protection measures are effectively implemented across the state.

By establishing uniform standards, the Oregon Fire Code helps mitigate the risks associated with fire hazards, explosions, and other dangerous conditions. Its guidelines are designed to protect occupants in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, ensuring that everyone can enjoy safe and secure environments.

The ongoing collaboration between the Oregon Fire Code Committee (OFCC), local fire jurisdictions, and community members emphasizes the importance of public involvement in shaping fire safety regulations. The code's adaptability allows for the incorporation of innovative materials and designs while maintaining essential safety standards, making it an essential tool for keeping our communities safe.

As we prepare for the upcoming 2025 Oregon Fire Code adoption, your participation is vital. Join us in fostering a culture of safety and preparedness in Oregon by engaging with the code development process, sharing your insights, and contributing to the ongoing evolution of fire safety standards in our state.

2022 Oregon Fire Code

The International Code Council (ICC) released the 2022 Oregon Fire Code. Click here to access the code as view only. You can purchase a copy or a PDF download from the ICC.

The International Fire Code establishes minimum fire prevention and protection systems requirements using prescriptive and performance-related provisions. It's founded on broad-based principles that make the use of new materials and new system designs possible.

The Oregon Fire Code is the Oregon fire service's manual to protect the public from fire hazards, explosions, or dangerous conditions in buildings and other facilities.

2025 Oregon Fire Code Adoption

The Oregon Fire Code Committee (OFCC) is excited to kick off the 2025 Oregon Fire Code adoption. It will be based on the 2024 International Fire Code (IFC), and we are looking for participation from the fire service, stakeholder groups, and the public. All subcommittee groups are open and looking for interested people to participate; no experience is necessary.
