Extremely Hazardous Substances (EHS)
These substances are regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Facilities that possess a threshold planning quantity (TPQ) of an EHS are subject to federal emergency planning requirements. TPQs are calculated based on the aggregate amount of an EHS substance at the facility at one time. Facilities in Oregon are required to identify whether or not they are subject to these requirements on the Oregon hazardous substance inventory report.

OSHA Hazard Classifications
Federal law requires facilities to identify physical and health hazard classifications adopted by Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard. Facilities will report the hazard classifications for each reported hazardous substance as listed on the safety data sheets (SDS). These classifications will be identified by the CHS Manager, and facilities will check the appropriate classification(s). These will include explosives, radioactive, poisonous, and etiological classifications, which, if selected, will prevent the disclosure of the substance to the public.
