DoD STARBASE Oregon

About us

DoD STARBASE Oregon is run by the Oregon Military Department through a Department of Defense (DoD) cooperative agreement providing 100% Federal funding. It is a free 12-month, year-round educational program where students engage in up to 25 hours of challenging educational "hands-on, minds-on" inquiry-based activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Design, and Mathematics (STEAM). They also have an opportunity to explore careers and observe STEAM applications in the "real world" by interacting with STEAM professionals from their local communities.

DoD STARBASE Oregon Vision and Mission

DoD STARBASE Oregon envisions that all students who attend will develop the essential STEAM literacy and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world. Our mission is to empower every student to confidently explore and remain current in the rapidly evolving world of STEAM.

OMD has four DoD STARBASE sites throughout the state:

  • DoD STARBASE Portland at the Portland Air National Guard Base – 142nd Fighter Wing
  • DoD STARBASE Kingsley at Kingsley Field – 173rd Fighter Wing in Klamath Falls
  • DoD STARBASE Camp Rilea at Camp Rilea Training Center in Warrenton
  • DoD STARBASE Rees at Raymond Rees Training Center in Hermiston
