Abstract:
This dataset contains records for results of blood lead testing among children under 3 years of age, by birth year cohort. State and county level indicators calculated from this dataset include percent and number of children tested before age 3, and percent and number of children tested before age 3 that have blood lead levels above 10 micrograms per deciliter.
Information on possible risk factors for childhood lead poisoning, including, living in poverty and living in housing built before 1950 or before 1979 is also included in this dataset. Risk factor data are presented at the state, county, census tract and block group level. |

The purpose of the Oregon EPHT Program is to provide scientific information from a web-based network of hazard, exposure, and health effect data to support actions that improve the health of communities. By bringing together, and standardizing, local, state, and national data sources of environmental and health information, scientists, policymakers, and the public will be able to more effectively address fundamental questions about relationships between environmental exposures and health effects. The Oregon EPHT Program is part of a National EPHT Network sponsored by the CDC. The Oregon EPHT Program resides in the Research & Education Section of the Office of Environmental Public Heath (OEPH) which is in the Public Health Division of the Oregon Health Authority.
The Oregon Environmental Public Health Tracking (EPHT) Program obtains calendar year childhood lead testing data annually through an agreement with the Oregon Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (LPPP). Birth data is obtained through an agreement with the Oregon Center for Health Statistics (CHS). Demographic data for calculating the number and percentage of children living in poverty and in housing built before 1950 and before 1979 is obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.
