The Oregon Prepared Conference provides participants with training and information on programs, current issues, lessons learned and best practices related to all phases of emergency management. It also offers several days of networking opportunities.
This annual conference is open to tribal, county, city, special district, state and federal emergency management staff; public safety and health preparedness staff; DHS/FEMA preparedness grant recipients; and non-profit and private sector partners with a role in mitigation, preparedness, response, or recovery. Note: We have implemented a registration cost of $250 this year. This cost is to offset funding from the Homeland Security Grant that has historically paid for this event.
For more information, please email the Oregon Prepared planning team at oregon.prepared@oem.oregon.gov.

Deputy chief Sasha Larkin, a 22-year veteran of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department teaches first responders a proactive approach that addresses people before they enter the crime-cycle, while they are in the system, and after they rejoin their community.
She shares the story of how a drug dealer on the run led to the development of one of the most robust community policing efforts in the US.
She also advocates programs that foster community resiliency because she has seen first-hand that pain will either go towards anger or healing. In fact, she and her team developed and implemented a Fusion Liaison Officer program that is now being modeled around the US.
After hearing the program, police executives are heard saying they have to implement these programs in their jurisdictions.
On a personal note, Sasha also teaches yoga classes, in part to decompress from the chaos of life, with her son and twin girls.
The following is the conference timeline, including meals and other key sessions. Full Schedule with sessions and presenters coming soon.
