Veterans share a bond. They understand the inherent sacrifices of their service, ranging from realities of war to the post-military service impact on physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive aspects of health. We don’t take the freedoms secured by these sacrifices lightly. Perhaps the most profound of these sacrifices: moral injury and the loss of innocence.

The purpose of the Jefferson County Veterans’ Service Office is to provide free assistance to Jefferson County Veterans, their dependents, and survivors in obtaining these benefits.

We encourage all Veterans and active-duty service members who are soon to be discharged to make contact with our office. Laws, disabilities, and income requirements tend to change over time.  Each case is unique; just as the experiences of each Veteran are in service, and they must be evaluated as such.

The Veterans' Service Office assists in obtaining benefits by:
1. Advising those eligible on benefits available through local, state and federal Veterans' programs.
2. Helping obtain supporting evidence and public records.
3. Filing appropriate forms and providing follow-up.
4. Assisting in filing appeals and gathering new evidence.
