Region 1: Portland metro and Hood River County (Oregon City, West Linn, Clackamas)


​​​​​​​The I-205 Abernethy Bridge Project provides Oregonians with safer, more reliable travel to access work and critical services, even after an earthquake or other major disaster. The project includes upgrading the Abernethy Bridge to withstand a major earthquake, improving on- and off-ramps near the bridge, and making improvements to local bike and pedestrian routes.

About

The I-205 Improvements Project is focused on seismic improvements to the Abernethy Bridge, which spans the Willamette River between Oregon City and West Linn, and safety improvements to the surrounding area. This work is expected to be completed in 2026.

Cost and Funding

The project cost estimate is $815 million. ​This is likely to come​ from a variety of funding sources, including HB 2017 funds, federal and local funds, and Highway User Tax Revenue bonds. ​
