About

enlarged project map iconThis is an important route whether you walk, drive, ride or roll. With Scappoose Middle School at this intersection and a public library, elementary and high school nearby, we're looking at this area to make it safer for pedestrians crossing the railroad tracks.

With this project, we plan to:

  • Upgrade some of the railroad equipment to meet current standards.

  • Re-route the sidewalk on the north side of SE Maple Street to go around the rail crossing gate arm instead of in front of it. The railroad crossing gate arm alerts traffic and pedestrians that a train is approaching.

  • Improve the sidewalk, curb ramps, signals and signs at the railroad tracks.
