About

Enlarged Project Area MapWe're upgrading curve warning signs to meet national standards. We're also installing new curve warnings at the curves that meet a specific threshold.

The national standards and thresholds for determining curve suggested speeds have been updated to take into account new vehicle designs. In some curves signs will be added or removed and suggested speeds could be removed, increased or decreased.

Installing signs will help reduce fatal and serious roadway departure crashes at curves. Curve warning signage has been shown to help alert drivers to changes in the direction of the road and to decrease roadway departure crashes. Roadway departure fatalities account for about two-thirds of Oregon fatalities.
