About
Problem: Many sidewalk ramps in Coos Bay and North Bend are difficult to navigate for people in wheelchairs or those who have visual impairments.
Solution: New curb ramps will be constructed that meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Benefits: ADA-compliant curb ramps will allow smooth and safe travel along sidewalks and streets for individuals in wheelchairs, parents pushing strollers and people making deliveries. Yellow truncated domes provide a tactile walking surface for people with visual impairments.
Construction impacts
Construction may require intermittent lane and shoulder closures. During sidewalk closures, alternate pedestrian routes will be provided.
Schedule
Construction began in October 2023 and all work was completed in July 2024.
A separate project (
Phase 2) is schedled to begin construction in 2025.
