About
The Troutdale Bridge over the Sandy River is a historic bridge on the Historic Columbia River Highway. Over time, flowing water can remove sediment around a bridge’s support structure, in a process called bridge scour. We inspected the bridge and found no signs of distress or structural damage. However, we considered nearly a dozen options to prevent further scour, all of which were challenging and costly to implement. We will continue monitoring the site to protect public safety, but are not proceeding with any repairs at this time.
