About
The I-5 northbound off-ramp at Exit 125 intersects Garden Valley Blvd. and consists of two lanes, a dedicated left-turn lane and a combined lane for traffic continuing straight or turning right. More than 10,000 vehicles use this ramp on an average day.
Congestion is a common problem on the ramp due to high traffic volumes and a mix of vehicles in the right lane either going straight or turning right. Traffic sometimes backs up to the I-5 travel lanes, increasing the risk of crashes.
ODOT will address this problem by creating a third lane on the northbound off-ramp. The new ramp configuration will include dedicated turn lanes, both left and right, as well as a through lane for vehicles continuing straight onto Mulholland Drive.
To accommodate the new lane, ODOT will widen the north end of the off-ramp, install a retaining wall between the ramp and Munson Court, replace traffic signal poles and hardware, and repave the intersection.
The driveways adjacent to the southeast corner of the intersection, along with the Munson Court access, will be adjusted to provide space for the additional lane. Lanes on Garden Valley Blvd. and Mulholland Dr. will will not be changed.
The project will also improve pedestrian facilities by replacing sidewalks and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) curb ramps, and installing new push-button pedestrian beacons.
