About

OR 58 is an important highway between the Cascade Mountains and the Willamette Valley. The west entrance to the Salt Creek Tunnel could be blocked during a large earthquake. The rocky slope above the highway could become unstable and block the tunnel entrance. We're investigating the land and coming up with ideas to keep the tunnel safe and open for people to use.

This project will help get the road open quickly to emergency traffic and reduce the potential for people to be trapped inside the tunnel if a large earthquake occurs.

You can learn about the other projects we're working on to improve the OR 58 corridor by visiting the webpage for those projects.
