About

The Queen Avenue highway-rail crossing is located within the Albany industrial area and is on a primary route connecting the industrial area with Highway 99 East (Albany-Junction City Highway).

There are four sets of tracks at the crossing. Two tracks for high speed trains and two tracks for switching and yard train activities.  Trains in the yard activate the warning devices when they are stopped. Incidents occur when vehicles, cyclists and pedestrian try to go around the stopped trains not realizing high-speed trains may be coming.

This project will:
  • Install advanced warning devices to warn approaching traffic that the crossing is in use and trains are present.
  • Make safety improvements to change how vehicle, bicycle and pedestrians use and move through the rail crossing area.
