The Plant Health Program provides official testing for blueberry (Vaccinium spp.) nursery stock at the request of growers to help them meet interstate quarantine rules. Several states, including Georgia, Michigan, and Washington have quarantines for viruses that infect blueberries and require testing before accepting shipment.
Oregon also has a Nursery Stock Control Area Order (OAR 603-052-1245) that covers plants and plant parts, not including fresh fruit, of blueberry, cranberry, huckleberry, and elderberry. This rule requires that plants that are imported, planted, sold, or offered for sale in the state of Oregon to originate from a
Blueberry scorch virus-free area, or to be certified or tested and found free of the virus.
What are the fees associated with this program?
The Blueberry virus testing program is operated on a cost-recovery basis and fees are charged to cover the expenses incurred conducting the sampling and testing.
How do I apply for virus testing?
Information and applications for Blueberry virus testing are sent out in May each year to interested nurseries. Contact
