What happened?
The Oregon Employment Department sent approximately 12,000 Unemployment Insurance claimants corrected Forms 1099-G for benefits received in 2024.
If you are impacted, you will receive a notice from the Oregon Employment Department in the mail or Frances Online with instructions on what to do for your individual circumstance.

What should I do?
Follow the instructions you receive from the Oregon Employment Department.
If you have not filed your taxes, use the corrected 1099-G to file your federal and state tax returns by Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
If you already filed your taxes with a previous 1099-G or without a 1099-G at all, you may need to file amended federal and state tax returns.
The due date to file state and federal taxes for 2024 is Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

Amending your state return
If your unemployment benefits weren't included on your original tax return, you will need to file an amended return. Visit our amending your income tax return webpage for more information.
If you have already filed a return with a previous 1099-G, the Oregon Employment Department has partnered with the Oregon Department of Revenue to make the process of amending your state return simpler.
If you owe less or have an increased refund
The Oregon Department of Revenue will update the unemployment benefits on your state return for you and send you a refund or reduced bill.
You do not need to take any further action.

If you owe more or have a reduced refund
The Oregon Department of Revenue can update your Oregon tax return for you.
Please sign and send the Authorization to Amend Oregon Personal Income Tax Return form included in your notice from the Oregon Employment Department to the address on the form.
The Oregon Employment Department has prefilled the authorization to amend form with the correct amount of benefits you received in 2024.
This form will allow the Oregon Department of Revenue to amend your state tax return for you and send you an updated refund or tax bill.
