Adult in Custody Orientation
Upon arrival at Coffee Creek Intake Center (CCIC), adults in custody (AICs) are guided through Receiving and Discharge (R&D). During the R&D process, individuals go through a short medical and mental health evaluation. They are photographed, fingerprinted, and issued a Department of Corrections identification card. In addition, inmates shower, are given clothing, bedding, and have the opportunity to mail out any personal property they may have.
AICs are also issued hygiene items and an Intake Packet* containing an Intake Handbook, Rules of Prohibited Conduct, and information on services offered to AICs.
After completing the R&D process, inmates are assigned a cell in one of five housing units and scheduled to attend an orientation. During orientation, inmates are told about forthcoming tests, counselor interviews, classes, and daily operations and expectations. Adults in custody are encouraged to take an active and positive role in their incarceration and to view it as an opportunity for positive change.
*The Intake Packet is available in English and Spanish. Appropriate accommodations are made for individuals speaking other languages.

Orientation is also available to family members and friends of newly incarcerated individuals—held monthly for the state via zoom.
