[soothing background music of gentle chimes] (Interpreter Services Coordinator Andrea Hiscocks) So the Workers' Compensation Board handles the legal side of Workers' Comp claims. So we hold hearings here and make sure that everybody gets their day in court and their shot at getting the benefits and things that they need. (Speaker 2) Here at the Workers' Compensation Board I work at the notice desk. And our hearings notices provide people with their day in court to present their case to the judge. (Speaker 3) My job here at Workers' Compensation Board makes a really big difference because as documents come in I have to make sure I process the settlements efficiently and accurately so that people can get their money and get paid. (Andrea Hiscocks) In my program, I coordinate interpreters for hearings all over the State of Oregon. As an example, we obviously offer Spanish, and Russian, and sign language but also indigenous languages like Karen or Tojolab’al was a really rare one and Mixteco Alto and different dialects like that. At the Workers' Compensation Board we offer office specialist jobs, administrative jobs, paralegal jobs as well as other kind of administrative and management jobs. (Speaker 2) Judicial assistants, judges, and attorneys - a wide variety of different jobs. (Andrea Hiscocks) So for my job as an interpreter services coordinator it's important to have an attention to detail and really good people skills because I work with a variety of people, not just my co-workers, but the public as well as interpreters. (Speaker 2) Some of the skills needed for our jobs here are attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and be flexible, good communication, computer skills are a must, and just overall a positive attitude. (Speaker 3) It's like a second family to me. Everyone here is awesome. I enjoy working with everybody here. They make me feel great, make me want to come back and it just like a second family. (Andrea Hiscocks) So the WCB is a really awesome place to work at, I've been here for 10 years almost and I just love my co-workers it really feels like a family and everybody is so nice. And just, everybody works really well together and it's just been a really great experience.
