Within our Information Technology & Research, we enable technological services for helping serve citizens of Oregon better. Information Technology & Research section resides in Central Services Division. And, Central Services Division provides shared services to all the divisions within the Department of Consumer and Business Services. Information 
Technology & Research creates web applications, desktop applications, provides multiple tools, networking services, telecommunication services, which enable different divisions of the agency to do business on a day-to-day basis. We also have a research unit with a research analyst and an economist. The research analysts do excellent work of analyzing large amounts of data on a day-to-day basis creating metrics, key performance measures and reports, which are consumed by many areas within our agency and also other parts of state government. The four units we are organized in are solution development and delivery; system infrastructure; customer support and maintenance; and the research unit.

Education and experience in the technologies which are being asked for in the job posting are critical for a qualified candidate. In addition, there are hard skills and soft skills, which will be helpful for a qualified applicant. In the hard skills we are looking for software development, project management, critical thinking for data analysis. And in the soft skills we are looking for interpersonal and communication skills and problem solvers. The Department of Consumer and Business Services is one of the most well recognized agencies within state government.
