Agency Resources For Employee Safety

Training

The following trainings are available to all Executive Branch employees through Workday Learning. Employees are encouraged to work with their supervisor to complete these optional online self-led trainings: 

• Workplace Violence and Safety: This training is intended to familiarize you with workplace violence and what you can do to prevent it.
• 10 Ways to Stay Safe on Social Media: This training is covers 10 ways you can stay safe on social media.
• Trauma Informed (provided by Trauma Informed Oregon)
• Module 1: What is Trauma Informed Care?: Learn the basics of trauma informed care.
  
• Module 2: Why is Trauma Informed Care Important? Watch this video to learn why trauma informed care should be incorporated into organizations and systems. 
• Module 3:  Trauma Specific, Trauma Sensitive, Trauma Informed Learn the basic differences between trauma specific services and trauma informed care.
• Module 4: A Brief Overview of NEAR Science Watch this video to get an introduction to NEAR Science and learn about the collection of fields of study that include Neurobiology, Epigenetics, ACEs and Resilience.
  
• Attacks in Crowded and Public Spaces: Take steps to prepare and protect yourself and help others in the event of a mass attack.
  
• Active Shooter Response: This course provides information on how to respond if there is an active shooter in the workplace.
  
• Active Shooter Awareness: A guide to controlling risk by DAS Risk Management.
  

Physical Building Enhancements

Agencies may purchase items/services to enhance their building safety. While these items are available for agencies – it is at each agency discretion and budget for purchase. Refer to the linked purchase reference sheets below for more information:

• Physical Security Personnel
  

Agency procurement departments can assist for with purchase of the items above. Agencies in DAS owned buildings will also need to submit a project authorization request.

Tools

• Incident Response Manual Template: The purpose of this template is to assist agencies in delveoping and documenting their own procedures to respond to safety incidents in the workplace. 
• Building Security Planning Checklist: Use this document as one of the tools in assessing current conditions in planning a holistic security strategy and solutions for your building or space.
  
• Facilities Operation Checklist: This checklist includes a list of baseline considerations agencies may want to reassess regularly.
