Job Description
Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.
Working Conditions
Machinists and tool and die makers work in machine shops, toolrooms, and factories. Although many work full time during regular business hours, overtime may be common, as is evening and weekend work.
Minimum Qualifications
Apprenticeship applicants must be at least 18 years of age, with proof of high school graduation or general education development (GED) equivalent.
