Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impared
AER's Professional Personnel Recruitment Committee (PPRC) is proud to announce the release of the long-awaited recruitment video: "Visual Impairment Professions." It will continue to air for a minimum of one year.
January is Glaucoma Awareness Month
Glaucoma is a leading cause of vision loss and blindness in the U.S. But it has no early symptoms—that's why half of people with glaucoma don't know they have it. The only way to check for glaucoma is to get a comprehensive dilated eye exam. There's no cure for glaucoma, but early treatment can often stop it from damaging people's vision. Anyone can get glaucoma, but people over 60, Black/African Americans over 40, Hispanics/Latinos, and those with a family history of glaucoma are at higher risk. Check out the
National Eye Institute Education Program (NEHEP) to learn more!

Trust That Your Vote Counts!
Track the status of your mail-in ballot from printed to accepted with this accessible and free process. Five Oregon counties have Ballot Tracking:
Marion,
Washington,
Clackamas,
Multnomah, and
Yamhill.
The voter provides full name, date of birth, zip code, and desired notification method. The CAPTCHA system used to ensure your response is human (and not an online robot) is a simple and accessible check mark. If there is a problem with your signature, you will be notified within a day. The percentage of successful voters with Ballot Tracking is very high, and anyone can help a voter get signed up!
