Inspector certification renewal cycle

All BCD inspector certification holders are required to complete a code change class provided by the division to maintain their active certification. The division has prepared online training videos and supplementary materials showing the substantial changes to each newly adopted code.

2025 code change cycle

The 2025 Oregon code change cycle consists of two commercial certification groups that will need to complete the training. One letter to each group will be mailed as a courtesy to the current address for the certificate holder on file with the division. The letter will explain the continuing education and self-certification process. Directions on how to self-certify completion of code change requirements will be posted here soon. Please check back.

All certification holders must demonstrate that they have completed the required code update training and self-certification by Jun. 1, 2026. Self-certification forms received and dated after Jun. 1, 2026 will result in certifications expiring.

Group 1:

The division has prepared supplemental materials showing the substantive changes to the 2025 OEESC. Code changes will be adopted July 1, 2025 with a six month phase in period, ending Dec. 31, 2025. The documents are linked on this page.

  • A video will be posted to the division’s code change website at a later date for use as a helpful guide when reviewing the supplemental documents.
  • One (1) code change credit will be given to each individual commercial certification an individual holds. The credit will be applied to the following certifications if a self-certification form is submitted and recorded by the division: SIA, SIB, MIA, MIB, PEA, and PEB. Group 1 excludes code change requirements for individuals who hold a PEF certification.

Group 2:

The division will prepare supplemental materials showing substantive changes to the 2025 OSSC. Code changes will be adopted Oct. 1, 2025 with a six month phase in period, ending Apr. 1, 2026. The division anticipates materials will be available by Jan. 1, 2026, with a courtesy letter mailed to certificate holders shorty after.

  • Videos will be posted to the division’s code change website after the code adoption date.
  • One (1) code change credit will be given to each commercial certification an individual holds and applied if they hold one of the following certifications: SIA, SIB, MIA, MIB, PEA, PEB, and PEF.
Note:
  • Individuals who complete all continuing education requirements for this cycle will have a total of two (2) continuing education credits applied to their certification record if they hold one or more of the following certifications: SIA, SIB, MIA, MIB, PEA, and PEB.
  • Individuals who complete all continuing education requirements for this cycle will have a total of one (1) continuing education credit applied to their certification record if they hold the following certifications: PEF.
