Understanding SSA Benefits and Employment
What it is - A free, six-hour training conducted by the Work Incentives Network. Participants will learn facts to combat the common myths, how to access available work incentives, and when to refer a participant to a certified benefits and work incentives coordinator. This training is for those interested in learning the basics about work incentives and the impact employment has on benefits.
Cost - Free
Schedule - WIN offers this training several times a year. Trainings are held on Zoom. The training is split into two half-day sessions. You must participate in both half-day sessions in order to successfully complete the training.

Certification for Benefits Planners: Work Incentives Planning Full Credentialing (WIP-C)
What it is - Cornell University’s Yang Tan Institute offers an online credentialing training program that is nationally recognized. The credential is good for 5 years.
Cost - Currently $1,575 (2023)
Schedule - This is a 7-week program that includes 17 90-minute webinars.

Community Work Incentives Initial Training Program
What it is - This is the certification training offered by Virginia Commonwealth University's (VCU) National Training Center, in contract with the Social Security Administration.
Cost - Free
Schedule - A five-day training is offered monthly, currently alternating between virtual and in-person formats. A six-week certification process follows the five-day training. A commitment to the whole process is required.
