- The Oregon WIC Program Breast Pump Project was fully implemented in all 36 local WIC agencies. Each local WIC agency develops its own system for pump issuance and determines the level at which it can provide this type of support to breastfeeding moms. The three types of breast pumps available are:
- manual pumps - for occasional separation from baby,
- double electric personal-use pumps - for moms returning to school or work, and
- hospital-grade double electric pumps - for short-term breastfeeding problems, for example premature infants who are not yet able to suckle at breast.
WIC participants who are breastfeeding and think they might need a breast pump should call their The local WIC agency to see if they qualify.
