What:
 
Oregon Public Utility Commission will take public testimony regarding recent energy price increases in Oregon that are within the jurisdiction of the OPUC. The Commission regulates the state's investor-owned electric and natural gas companies. It does not regulate publicly-owned utilities, co-ops or municipal utilities.

Details:
 
New, higher rates for the state's largest investor-owned electric utility, Portland General Electric, became effective October 1, 2001. Since October of 2000, Oregon's three investor-owned natural gas companies have raised their rates in response to higher wholesale prices.
