Your membership in PERS is portable, meaning that once you become an Oregon PERS member, you will remain a member if you later leave one participating employer to work in another qualifying position with another participating employer. If you are an active Tier One or Tier Two member you retain your PERS membership for service unless you terminate your membership by withdrawing your account or your account goes into Loss Of Membership. If you then returen to PERS qualifying employment you will accrue Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan credit for service after returning.
If you were an inactive PERS member on August 28, 2003, and return to PERS-covered employment, you will retain your PERS membership.
