History
The Governor’s Fire Service Policy Council was created by the 2001 Legislature to advise the Governor and the Superintendent of State Police on fire policy issues and advise the State Fire Marshal on strategies for the implementation of fire and life safety issues.
GFSPC elects new chair
During the January, 2009 meeting, members elected new chair, Chief Greg Keller, who represents the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association on the council. He replaced Lake Oswego Fire Chief Ed Wilson whose term expired in 2008. Scott Mullen, OVFA, remains as vice chair.
Three members accepted second terms during 2008: Tammy Fitch, League of Oregon Cities, Scott Mullen, Oregon Volunteer Firefighters Association, and Bob Borra, Insurance Providers. Effective April 1, 2008, new member Tad Pedersen representing the Office of State Fire Marshal replaced Sarah Colvin who resigned prior to the end of her term.
