A tip has led investigators to what is believed to be the suspect vehicle involved in Wednesday morning's fatal hit & run crash in which an adult female in a wheelchair was killed while attempting to cross Highway 99E (SE McLoughlin Blvd) south of Boardman Avenue. The 40-year old victim has been positively identified but her name is withheld pending completion of next of kin notification.
The suspect vehicle, a green 1995 Ford Econoline van, has been located in the general vicinity of this morning's crash but at the request of investigators the exact location is withheld at this time.
On November 28, 2007 at approximately 6:00 a.m. the victim got off a Tri-Met bus on the west side of Highway 99E and attempted to cross the highway. The victim was struck in the middle of the two southbound lanes and dragged approximately 100 feet in her wheelchair.
The suspect vehicle and driver was last seen southbound on Highway 99E from the crash scene.
The victim was transported to Oregon Health Sciences University where she died about an hour after the crash.
Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command office and members of the Clackamas County inter-agency crash investigation team (CRAFT) are continuing the investigation. ODOT assisted with traffic control until the southbound lanes were reopened about 11:30 a.m.
