OSP Joins Wheeler County Sheriff's Office in Death Investigation

At the request of Wheeler County Sheriff Bob Hudspeth, the Oregon State Police (OSP) will be assisting with the ongoing death investigation that occurred in southwest Wheeler County on October 7, 2009. OSP will provide investigators, forensic and medical examiner assistance to Wheeler County Sheriff's office, the lead investigating agency.
 
A 24-hour tip line has been established to assist with the investigation into the death of Frank Means, age 61, from Portland. Any witnesses or anyone with information related to this case is asked to call OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at 1-800-243-7865.
 
Investigators are asking for contact with any potential witnesses that were camped or traveling through the area of Burnt Ranch Road or South Twickenham Road, an area commonly known as the "Priest Hole" on the John Day River, during the dates of October 5 – 9, 2009.
 
No other information anticipated to be released pending completion of the investigation.
